About the Author
BEVERLY KORIBANIC is a life-long resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has worked for several major companies in the Pittsburgh area as a programmer, analyst, and project leader. After a layoff, Beverly Koribanic decided to strike out on her own and use her real estate license more actively. With her varied professional background, Beverly Koribanic has learned much about how we interact when doing business. In WOW! Scammed or Not Scammed! Beverly writes from a mix of personal and professional experience. She herself has been scammed and now writes to expose scammers and protect readers by educating them on the industry and romance of scamming. After a lay-off for one of the major companies she decided to use her real estate license. While doing her real estate duties, she met the owners of Midge. She decided to write this book after meeting this sweet little dog that was going to be euthanized because the original owner of Midge passed away. The people who inherited Midge couldn’t keep her because the house they were renting didn’t allow pets. Beverly had trouble understanding why anyone wanted to put a dog down at 10 years old that wasn’t in need of being put down so she decided to adopt her. And this is where Midge My Life Story begins.
My love of helping people and being in a certain frame of mind led me to get scammed. But in the midst of being scammed, I found a lot of people who were scammed. They came from all walks of life and had different backgrounds as well as different education levels. My knowledge grew about how scammers operated and how they used people. I’m not saying this is an all-knowing book that I wrote, but I wrote it to help people understand how a scammer writes and what he or she tells you, and that the face you are looking at and talking to may not be who you think they are. The people in my book have innocent faces, but not the person behind the faces. I know people come from different countries and their English may not be grammatically correct, but if you never see them in person, please don’t do them any favors. A person who truly loves you will meet up with you either by traveling to them or vice versa. When there is always a reason why someone can’t meet you, that is a definite red flag. I wrote the book for all to understand, no matter what level of education, and how I felt when I was being scammed. In addition, I wrote it when I found out the level and intensity of the scams and found the people who, in addition to myself, got hurt emotionally as well as financially. Hopefully, when you read the book, you will laugh, cry, or wonder, What the hell was she thinking? But the book was written to try to stop scammers and hopefully save you money or heartbreak. That’s my hope.
